I watched it & it was an interesting programme. I would have preferred if they had left the Karmann unmolested. With these conversions there never seems to be any form of battery conditioning, no heating or cooling of battery. There was no mention of a heater for the car, presumably only drive on a warm dry day.

Watched the Wheeler Dealer episode when Ed was presented with a Maserati Bi-Turbo. Great I thought until revelation that it already had an electric conversion done in the 1990's with a lardy load of lead/acid batteries. Never mind maybe they will source an original engine, but no Ed was just given the task of upgrading it - leaving him unusually out of his depth. Turned off at that point.

I do wonder about DIY conversions or kit cars. This stuff is very dangerous with immense power stored up.
I can't see the point is an e conversion. For those costs I would buy a new one.

The chap who looks after my Morgan.is converting a Classic Fiat 500 to electric, he hopes to set up a small business making them. I believe he is talking about £25k, but as far as I can see he will be hard put making a profit at that price.

I’m sure it will get cheaper over time. I would be tempted to wait if I wanted one.

I could live with this if electric became the norm. Retro in style yet all modern components and not destroying good classic vehicles.

Goblin Works Garage did an electric Fiat 500, budget was £30k they bust that & settled on 35k. It was not just a power swap they made it more "agressive".

Even boats are going electric which given their shocking fuel burn might make sense.
