Have just bought an early 3 wheeler which will only arrive sometime in the next few weeks.

It comes with the factory toolkit but what other tools should I carry and being English with an American engine do you need a mix of spanners or are they all metric?

.I see there are under bonnet storage boxes available. Pricey, but are they worthwhile or not? Any comments on steering wheel "upgrades" and the 3 eared spinners would be appreciated. Thanks, stephen

I am not sure about the 3eared spinners. For my eyes that is too much for "motorbike" tyres. I kept the hexnuts on mine while I got spinners for the 4/4. But this is personal opinion only.

For the engine and cambelt housing I had non-metric L-keys as far as I remember. Most of the other nuts&bolts were metric.

The engine is American so all the nuts and bolts are sae.

I have the foot well storage box. While it is nice place to put my Morgan tool kit. it is a PITA to get to, cramps up my wife's feet and is very small for the cost

No need for expensive under bonnet storage. When you get the car find a zipped bag that fits on passenger side next to battery & sit it on some gripper mat. You dont want it touching the hot oil tank. The supplied toolkit will fit under the steering column below the brake reservoir, again on gripper mat. You can make yourself a parcel shelf for some interior storage out of wood. Attach it to the underside of the panel where you have sat your new bag. Alternatively make or buy a pouch to fit on the lower side of the panel in front of the passenger. Several on TM have done something similar.
When you get the car if you are long legged make sure the pedals are located as far forward as possible, a spanner job. Consider a steering wheel spacer to give you bit more room to get your foot off the clutch & raise the front edge of the seat with some wood under the cushion.

Does anyone make an underbonnet bag for the M3W? Be nice to have one that fits perfectly and can be easily removed.

I used the very same bag shown in Marmots "many options" picture bottom centre on green car. Its a fishing bag from a supermarket after a tip on this forum. Cheap, loads of pockets, just pick it up & who is going to see it under the bonnet?

We are relatively close to each other, I am just south of Leeds.

The toolkit which I carry is Allen keys metric & imperial, flat, pozzy & phillips screwdrivers, pliers, 8,10,13,17 &19mm + 7/16, 1/2, 9/16, 11/16 & 3/4" spanners.

Insulation tape, cable ties a spare inner tube and a tyre inflator. Also on long trips a fuel pump.

Rule of thumb, the more you carry the less you will need.
