Castrol (& other) grease comes in a plastic pot with a mega washer in the top. The mega washer has a 12mm diameter hole. Simply place the open great gun over the hole and push down. In seconds the grease gun is full. A slide to one side to finish off the fill and a minimal wipe over required before re-fitting the top of the gun. All you need to do then, with a pistol type gun, is to bleed out the air. Simples. I have tried that method with partial success. Maybe my technique needs some working on. I also used a standard grease previously but think I’ll try something different in the future given my kingpins only lasted 20,000 miles. Have yours lasted significantly longer on standard grease?

I have a wanner and it’s great. The only downside is you have to fill it up manually as it does not take cartridges. I tried a cartridge gun but is was no way as good as a wanner i knicked one of the teaspoons to help with filling. Now lives in the shed  . Done the same. 
.+8 Now gone for a 1800 4/4. Duratec in bright yellow.

Current set is on 28,000 miles. I use a moly grease.

Paul. Were they the originals or have you had hard chrome fitted?

If you are greasing the pins on a regular basis then the type of grease used does not make a huge difference. The real success is how you grease and fill the reservoir dependent on the type of Kingpins fitted. Applying grease till appears between the springs does not mean the reservoir is full and therefore not fully greasing the system. On my 94 +8 and 64 4/4 lifting the brass plate on top of the reservoir and applying grease till it appears from under the plate ensures the reservoir is full and grease gets to all the parts (over 50,000 miles on original kingpins and I drive on rough dirt roads).

I do grease it on my 2015 plus 4 so that is emerges from the end. I’m not aware of any other way to check it. Should I be checking something else. I’m not aware of any brass plates

I’m not aware of any brass plates I am not familiar with the front suspension on your 2015 plus 4, your kingpins are drilled out to allow flow of grease from the top grease nipple which earlier models are not and they are fitted with a roller bearing above the reservoir. If this is the case then the greasing method is pump grease into the lower nipple until grease appears under the damper plate, the reservoir is then full. Greasing the upper nipple at the same time until the grease appears halfway down the Kingpin.
