I see the Walbro 342 is a suggested replacement for Acura/Honda models with the smaller engines. I really can't see any downside to using a pump with a significantly larger than required flow rating, except maybe cost. When researching alternatives, I found very few rated below 100Lph, and their form factor was quite different.

Remember the 255Lph rating is a maximum rating with zero restrictions at a test voltage. To know the actual flow volume on the M3W as installed with the pressure regulating filter, one would need to actually measure it.

I've measured carbureted engine fuel system flow volume by running the hose into a suitable container for a precise amount of time (usually 30 seconds) then measuring the output. Repeat 3-4 times then average the results. Typical results were in the 15-30 gallon/hour (or roughly 60-120Lph) with small Facet or OEM electric pumps, serious overkill for the LBCs I was working on.

The spec I’ve seen for the Walbro GS342 is approximately 240lts hr at 58psi, so if I’ve got this right that’s about a tank full pumped every 12.5 minutes so as Planenut says it’s getting plenty of filtering!
It clearly works fine with that setup so as you say not a problem, I’m just pondering 🤔.
Although as maths is not my strong point Im probably wrong!

I saw some photos of Michael Demetrio's modification on FB. He has fitted an external pump where the fuel filter normally goes and a filter regulator under the bonnet, with the filter before the injectors and not after. Looks a real good installation as well.

Would you have the FB link to that?

I have been using Morgan Custom's fuel system for about a month and it solved a few issues that I was having. More easily started, smoother acceleration, better throttle response AND NO MORE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT!!! I even had a gross over fill of the fuel system yesterday when a faulty fuel pump did not click off and fuel gushed all over the boot down the sides and ran in the seam fore and aft soaking everything. No fire thank god but I thought for sure I would be dead in the water, so to speak, and yet it started up with a pop and sputter and ran a bit rough for a couple of miles and then all has been well for 50 more miles and several startups. Love the system

Set the fuel pressure where you want it and you are good to go!

Lightspeed, in your bottom picture is that the filter, on first viewing I thought it was an external pump? If so does the system use the standard in tank pump setup?
Is it plumbed so goes pump>filter>injectors>regulator>return to tank.

Uses standard in tank pump with no modification.

I believe you have the sequence correctly. I will double check and get back to you.

Update:
The fuel regulator is after the injectors to create head pressure in the injectors.
