Golden, although a convenient location for the camera, I would caution about rocks hitting the lens.

Stephen, I am certainly mindful of that. So far I've been lucky, but I am sure the luck will run out at some point I just like the perspective of that position.

Golden, thanks for all the information.
My new Hero 8 should be here today. I have the same GoPro vacuum mount as you use. I have in the past put a cord to it like you have shown. Did you ever have it come loose?
I see that you have the Media Mod housing on your Hero 8. I also purchased one and it should be with the camera today. I purchased lens tempered glass protectors for the lens and rear screen. The kits come with a plastic film for the front info screen, not tempered glass like the other two.
Did you find that the Media Mod kit allowed you to use the rear mic and did that cut down your wind noise some? I'll play with it on my Harley yet this week before we leave for Sturgis on Sunday. Won't have much time, but will start with your custom settings and see how well that works out.
I also have a couple 64gb micro cards, but for this I bought a 256gb micro. What do you record with size wise? How many hours do you get for a given gb size micro card? I plan on using the "C" charging cord with the Media Mod housing from a USB cigarette power plug on my fairing. That way I can record unlimited while on the bike. I did get an extra battery from GoPro, but also purchased a three pack Hero 8 compatible from Amazon along with a three hole desk top charger.
I hope I have enough "stuff" to get the job done at Sturgis.
Thanks again for the info and suggestions!
Have a great day!
Dan

Have a great day! Hello Dan. Nice choice of action camera. In my case, the GoPor suction cup never moved. But just in case I put a short lanyard attached to the central "lift-the-dot" male screw. If you're curious here's the link. https://www.speedymarmots.com/hangar-works-14-the-video-camera/I put the camera in the same position than Golden, but use the short arm so it is lower. I ordered two more batteries, as two I have are not enough for a whole long day trip. That's the GoPro weakness... batteries too short, and changing for a fresh one means dismantling the whole. But not something to cry about.

Javier, thanks...👍
I also bought the Media Mod and that allows external type C charging while filming. Also off Amazon I purchased an Open Door battery cover that replaces the solid waterproof battery end door. The original covers the charge port. The open door has an opening for the type C cord to plug in without the additional Media Mod adapter. So charging should be doable while filming and not to worry about the battery taking a crap in the middle of a drive. Also worth the charge cord installed while filming you can keep the Wi-Fi turned on without the fear of draining the battery faster.
I'm looking forward to playing with it today. I'll start with the settings posted above and see how that works out. There's so many more settings than my Hero 3 Black that it may take some getting used to.
I greatly appreciate all the UP front advice for sure, thanks again guys!
Now it's off to the bank to have our collected coinage counted and cashed in. We have 55# of coins in a carry bag.

Messing around with a Gopro Max at a recent track day: Normal video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wFPfVTyE7qQControllable 360 degree video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VCV9KAHtuH0Had a heck of a workout fighting understeer all day but it was a blast. Before the next track day I have some new grippier front tires, Garage56 exhaust, and Stealth Air filter kit, so I should have a bit more grip in the corners and oomph for the straights.

Great vid, pity about the wind noise drowning out the exhaust note.... I bought a mic adaptor for my go pro but the mic still picked up too much wind, even with a sock on it, bought an extension cable for the mic in the hope of fixing it much closer to the exhaust in the hope of improving sound quality of my old V8 next time I give it a go... Thanks for posting the vid...

Agreed, but it is likely my fault... I basically fitted it backwards so the mic was into the wind. I'm going to do a little test drive this weekend to see if it's any better if I flip it around.
