1960s Devon. Electricity - yes - as long as there was diesel for the generator. Water - bore hole with insufficient capacity for 100+ cows. So, water was carried from a stand pipe in the next village in an 800 gallon ex army water tanker - enough for a couple of days in each trip. Fortunately, the same village had a pub with a petrol pump so the tanker did not have to deviate from its standard route in order to replenish the tank. Unfortunately for the pub landlady, the pump was a manual wound device with multiple turns per gallon.
Mains electricity reached us in 1966. Mains water around the same time.
Ironic really, since the Roadford reservoir is now at the end of what was the farm access road.

Being sent down to the local corner shop with a half gallon steel can to collect some 'Esso Blue' paraffin for the heater to stop the pipes freezing in winter

That does remind me of one moment.
Going up to see grandma in Baker Street Aberdeen which was one of the old granite tenements and having to use the outside shared toilet. Then going up to the public baths (Bon Accord Baths?) for a clean up and having to shout "more cold to number 3 please" until it was possible actually get in. I am not certain if they were trying to clean us or cook us.
Everyone loves a Morgan. Even me, unless it's broken again.

Dope was 10 quid an ounce. Blimey, you started younger than me. Cheapest I paid was £16 IIRC for Rocky, more for Black Leb.
