Another reason to keep what I have. I as an engineer hate these waste of time marketing moves.
The best we had was on sheetfed UV inks where the "marketeer" /"developer" wanted the same item number but but different BOM for different customers! SAP doesn't really like that & of course it was a cluster fuck.

For those not in the world of enterprise management systems like SAP this means you order a blue +4 .But if you put that on the order MMC need to know that for you as a customer specifically it mean red. AAARGH

I also understood from a member on here that Tesla also can online reduce your range etc just like Apple do on i phones.

This is no big surprise. It a way to reduce the upfront cost and keep the revenues flowing through the life of the car. I don’t like it however

When I did the reinstall I selected the option to do an off line install without access to my MS account. It all went smoothly and things like the document folder were set up as local, not cloud, folders. I then deleted all the bumph that I did not want, including the One Drive app (Alistair: I had already deleted the files from the OneDrive cloud, and no, I can't work out how to get rid of Edge either).

The curious thing about all this is that I have more free space on my disk.

Anyway, at the end of the day, I have got what I wanted in the first place. If I want I can now reinstituted connection to my MS account and without OneDrive it should leave my files where they are. I can't see the point though so I will leave it as it is.

Oh. And the Mediacom Flexbook seems meet my needs fairly well. It may not be the fastest thing available but it cost very little, is well made and looks good, battery life is reasonable etc. I like the touch screen but use it with a Bluetooth mouse too.

For anyone who is not familiar with Linux it is a good alternative to put on an older computer that is still working well and that you only use for email, browsing, and office apps like Word processing and spreadsheets.

I do agree that LibreOffice can seem a little out of date and I find the search and replace function for special characters a little clunky but in general terms it too does everything I want.

I recently switched mail server to save a little money on my now seldom used Australian email and I was very annoyed to discover it was an MS Exchange system which has somehow forced me into an MS environment which I have no desire to be part of. I will be investigating alternatives when the current contract expires. In fact now that I think about it I will probably switch to mail forwarding and remove the account from all my devices.

As for Microsoft Office / Outlook / Exchange with mail and calendar: Try DavMail. I read my company emails with whatever email client I want (mostly Mozilla SeaMonkey / Thunderbird and Lightning) via DavMail. Works like a charm. Windows and Linux alike. Freeware. Open Source. Donated a couple of times.
