Update....The car is now fully stripped down and the rebuild has started. Unfortunately all the new chassis are fitted with the NVH kit, i asked not to have it but was told that it is not an option also they are changing the 2 brake and clutch reservoirs for a single one.If everything goes to plan i should have the car back by the end of the month. The communication from the factory has been excellent so far. The great benefit of this news for Morgan and affected Owners is that it establishes a format and protocol for the inspection and repair of all other vehicles. That's a good thing......

Just heard of another fellow with a 2012 that had his chassis crack. What year did MMC start using thicker tubing?

Just heard of another fellow with a 2012 that had his chassis crack. What year did MMC start using thicker tubing?
Thicker tubing in 2013 but the real change was the addition of welded in diagonal bracing behind the engine at the start of 2014 if I remember correctly.

Thank you Calum. This particular fellow has already run a bore scope into the frame to inspect the area and has a fix planned.

What is the difference between a 2014 chassis, and one made in 2015-16?
My car is a 2014, but I have not received a recall from the dealer. I thought 2014 was the latest and greatest...
What say you?

There is a production number cut off, the first 1027 cars produced. If your 2014 car is after that (it should be, unless it was in stock for some months) and it has the welded in brace behind the engine, the recalL will not apply to you. If you look at the information in the Buyers Guide. https://www.mtwc.co.uk/news-post/ it tells you where to look and what to check yourself, for your own peace of mind. A 2015-2016 car will have the same post 2014 specification chassis.
