Had a good look over the Plus Four demonstrator at BHM yesterday and was surprised to find a tonneau cover is no longer an option.
There are a number of styling details door handles and steering wheel to name but two I don't like but then to find a tonneau is no longer supplied confirms it's not my kind of Morgan! swear

[pedant mode] The tonneau is actually the cockpit. The name actually comes from the French for a barrel and was used on certain type of horse drawn carriages. What you are referring to os the "tonneau cover".[/pedant mode]

I must say that I am surprised that a tonneau cover is not available as an option but I am sure many dealers would be able to fit one.

That's surprising to read and a bit sad too. I suppose it's all about the move from traditional sports car to high-spec/high cost GT-type maybe?

I think so. It was the same thing back then with the Austin-Healeys. From a spartan roadster to a comfortable convertible. (BN4 to AH 3000 Mk III)

I enquired about the tonneau cover, and had a reply from John Bellenger at Allon White to say that, "as for now, a tonneau is not a Factory approved accessory...."

Further, he mentioned that if you did fit one which caused leaks into the electrics, "....Morgan would be well within their rights to decline to cover any damage under warranty."

That's an interesting statement, are we thinking dashboard electronics here I wonder.

It's a shame no cover is planned as that's how I like to travel with no roof in the winter.
I have always had a conventional 9 or 10 stud roof so I don't know how the cover works if at all with an easy up roof.

the cover on mine goes over the folded hood & is basically the same then as the 9 stud version. The hood frame when unlocked rotates up so when the hood is down you can access the rear shelf. when folded it lets you then cover the hood with the tonneau cover.

John

Thanks for the explanation that sounds like a good arrangement and it does make you wonder why they don't do one for the CX unless the ingress of water has them really worried.
