My first choice for many purposes!

in my workshop I use this "rubber splicing tape" (offered by many companies) very often. You can wrap it around tubes, cables, wires and so on!

That’s a clever tip Dave thumbs Access down there might be a bit of an issue but I will try that first out of interest. Draining it down is not a problem, I can walk under my car in the garage smile

Cutting the hose is probably the only option. I thought about getting the stainless tube out and bending it a little but it fouls the camshaft position sensor connector too so little scope to move it over.

It’s on my rainy day list so will report back.

In the UK that's called 'self amalgamating tape' ..... always have some in my toolbox and bought a new roll a couple of days ago ..... good stuff but doesn't like fuel ....turns to chewing gum.

Very handy for encapsulating electrical connections, I've been using it since a tip-off from a cable TV installer many years ago

Also good for taping sections of 15 feet fishing rods together so that they don’t fly off down the river. And, doesn’t remove rod varnish

The owner of the hardware store next door offered me a roll FOC. A customer had returned it because it wouldn't stick to itself. Turns out he'd not realised you need to remove the backing tape doh

Lord, give me strength!.

I have found though varying quality. Some is just “ok” whilst other is much stickier.
Wouldn’t be without it, eg.repairing my car’s loom where the existing tape starts to unwind especially at connectors.

My hose also fouls the plug in the same way. There is another plug 180deg opposite on my Duratec which will not allow the hose to be moved inwards at all. It seems that the hose could be modified to avoid both by routing it back towards the bulkhead and then make an S bend to connect with the block. All of this is beyond my skills and so I'll keep an eye on it and make it a service check when it goes in for MOT/service.
Never heard of the tape and as we have a garden hose with multiple fox-teeth holes I will get some.

Eventually got around to sorting this. I decided to move/bend the stainless tube away from the throttle sensor before trimming the hose.

As the tube was hard up against the camshaft position sensor I made some room to move it over by rotating the senor 90 degs. Figured it was probably only an inductive device so should be ok (and has not thrown up any error codes so far after a couple of decent runs).

Some before and after pics

I trimmed about 20mm from the horizontal leg of the hose. As well as cooking the TB it was probably impeding the coolant flow too.

Cam position sensor rotated.

Had to knock up a little bracket to secure the sensor in the new position.
