Thanks Dave that is most helpful, I believe that Avon's are standard fitment on the new Aeros. They are and they are, IMHO, shockingly poor and do not instill confidence. You've already mentioned the tyres many of us run on our Aeros in your original post - using the Search function in the Aero forum, using the tyres as your search term will yield some good reviews - and they all have pros and cons (most personal opinion). I personally like Toyo Sport Proxes but some people find the sidewalk a little too soft; they are a good compromise between performance and ride comfort. If you are a GRRC member, I believe they have a good offer for members. A quick search in the forum revealed this topic on replacement tyres for the Morgan Aero 8

I had the same uneven wear and shimmying issue - and thought that the Pirellis were poor anyway. I did not take the Avon route, nor Toyo as the latter are a bit too soft and track biased for me. I settled on Vredestein Ultrac Sessantas, which I love in the Aero. No silly oversteer, very good in damp conditions, solved any wobbles and even improved the ride. Had their predecessors on my Porsche 968CS and similarly found them very good.

Tempted to buy some of their snow tyres to put on my V70 this winter. I don't actually need to commute anywhere but I have visions of helping people out and being able to get up hills where non snow tyre equipped soft-roaders are struggling...

I can confirm HarryF's comment on the Vredestein Ultrac Sesssanta, really good. I was also surprised how good they were in deep puddles on the M4.
I am now considering these for the rear of the CL600 as soon as I can wear out the awful Pirelli rubber the car arrived on. It will be these or the new Michelin Pilot Super Sport.
Everyone loves a Morgan. Even me, unless it's broken again.

Guys, you may like to know that I went with the Avon ZZ3's in the end, unfortunately they don't make them in a 255 fitment anymore, so in the end I stuck to 225/40 all round.
Even so, this has made a good improvement from the unevenly wearing Pirelli's, differences include no sign of 'judder' under harder braking and a feeling of more control (confidence), even dare I say more 'comfort?'
All in all, very good value for sub Ł500 fitted & balanced for 4 tyres.

Based on posts here, and other car club forums, have just fitted the Ultrac Sessantas (225/40 18ZR) on rear. Initial impressions after 100km here are excellent. Quieter than old Avons and grip in dry seems impressive. Bought online in France for 114€; got to be a bargain.

Anyone got pics of the rears with 255 fitted??
I understand a 255/35 is almost a perfect match for a 225/40 in terms of diameter.
