Yeah that would be my solution once it's out of warranty, I suggested it earlier it's the right answer but maybe you would get used to just putting the roof up over time.

Safety rulings are for the most part I suspect entirely reasonable and understandable for the average modern car. However with Morgan, the classic old style body shape alone, irrespective of the high tech it's covering, is more than enough to place it in any entirely separate and near unique category. I believe its this fact that is at the crux of matter, placing the need for old style fittings outside the one size fits all rulings. The notion that MMC couldn't design an alternative tonneau cover fastening system that fits within legislation is just plain risible. One screamingly obvious possibility is to put the studs on the tonneau cover and have holes in the dash that could have rubber plugs when the cover is not in use. I'm sure a skilled designer could come up with a much better arrangement. Not at all intended Tim, simply pointing out the crux of the issue and consequent dilemma MMC face. Your suggestion would be an easy fix though.

So how are they going to manage with the M3W - no cover whatsoever for the cockpit ? Really interested to see how they sell with no cover at all or maybe there is an easy up in the pipeline  When new M3W's leave the factory the tonneau cover studs are not fitted, they are supplied as a kit of bits with the cover to be fitted elsewhere.

Someone quoted that earlier on in the thread with regard to an electrical fault, quite what that was based on I don't know but they were quoting a dealer if I remember correctly Hawki.

Gary, it was Jon's earlier post and a phone conversation he had with John Bellinger at AW.
Further, he mentioned that if you did fit one which caused leaks into the electrics, "....Morgan would be well within their rights to decline to cover any damage under warranty."
So I think the way to go is when the car is out of warranty get one fitted.

Personally I think MMC's stance on this is poor
Mogs are driven in the rain (sometimes very heavy rain) with the hood down, when touring can be left outside for days on end in poor weather, and as we all know, the hood when up can leak, never mind hitting a deep puddle at speed
Critical and sensitive electrics and their housings should be designed (and workmanship during install) to meet proper dust & water ingress IP ratings, especially when the owner is paying CX platform ££money
