Took the Morgan for a blast last Friday and while stationary after a 30 minute ride, I felt the revs go low and nearly cut out only to rev back up on idle

Didn’t think too much of it so carried on, all seemed to be ok until parking back up at home and revs were all over the place and the engine didn’t sound well

Opened the bonnet and it became clear the engine was misfiring quite badly

It had new plugs and leads in December so guessed it might be something else

Rang Matty at Lifes on Monday morning who agreed to have a look at it straight away if I bring it in but advised that if it’s a serious misfire it could damage the cat if I drove it

So I rung my insurer Gott and Wynn to see whether my breakdown cover would trailer it from my home to Lifes, 25 minutes away.

This was all doable, no issues at all but the process was they would send out a mechanic first as part of the process before they trailer it

So Monday afternoon a mechanic turns up, incredibly Knowledgable chap, no experience with Morgans but knew the engine well from his time messing with Fords and jaguars

He thought it could be a stuck Exhaust valve and gave something a gentle tap with a rubber mallet. After 30 seconds and reading his computer diagnostic equipment the misfire stopped and the engine settled down

The engine warning light was still on but it drove perfectly well and all seemed fine

So I drove it over to Matty’s (Lifes Motors) this aft and left it with him to do a proper check and for him to use his Morgan diagnostics

All a bit strange but I trust Matty to get to the bottom of it

Was it wet. My Roadster if it gets really wet will misfire. What were the error codes? I hope it is OK Stewart.

Check the Exhaust Manifold to down pipe gasket. My dads S1 Roadster started running terribly, thanks to TM and Simon at Sifab a quick diagnosis was the gasket, changed both sides and ran perfectly... is a common problem on the S1 I’m not sure about the S2..

No, it hasn’t seen any rain for a while

We did a couple of diagnostic tests, these are the codes

Seems a lot of codes but could be a simple fault, Hope you get it sorted!

Yes I thought that, I bet it’s something simple although it might be difficult to trace accurately but Matty’s had a lot of experience

I'm sure Matty will sort it out.
