I’m struggling to find an MOT test centre that can handle a M3W in the Hampshire/Surrey/West Sussex area within reasonable distance of Farnham. Does anyone know of a suitable testing station?

Bell & Colvill are nearish, and do MOTs. If they have to outsource M3W they can tell you where.

Thanks twotribes, B&C have just built a nice new test centre at Guildford but didn’t get a middle ramp to make it suitable for M3Ws.

Check the dvla website for locations that do the Class 3 (if I remember correctly) MOT. Don't need a ramp for the M3W MOT.

Thanks guys. It’s all getting a bit confusing, I’ve read that a 3 wheeler above 450kg is class 4, but when I pointed that out to B&C (who are class 4) they said they couldn’t do it because they hadn’t got a suitable ramp. I’ve also had anther garage that used to do them say they can’t now because they have changed their Ramps.

It is class 4, and no you don't need a ramp for the M3W. There is nothing to see underneath. As a courtesy I always remove the boot liner for the tester to inspect the back end.

I think the problem is that most car MOT stations now use a pit lift for MOTs, so with a central pit there is no central support for the rear wheel.

When my M3W MoT is done they don't lift it they just jack each corner so they can check for play in the various components.
