a dry battery is often a sign of over charging, as it boils out the water. Of course a weak battery will also dry out as it keeps trying to charge

It fits snugly into the car's holder and connects to the Morgan cables without modification. It comes with brass spacers for the connections that make booster cables easier to apply, a bonus for me in the circumstance.

An update for all contributors: After beating the local bushes for someone to "interrogate the ECU", I've settled on the not local factory authorized S&S shop. He has assured me he has the program and has talked at length with " the guy in Wisconsin." All I need do now is find a way to get it the seventy miles between my shop and his. This week's weather has the temperature hovering at 103 to 107 F. so even if she started I wouldn't care to go. Weather this hot makes the local Swainson Hawk family sease hovering and spend the afternoon sitting on my back fence and taking splashy turns in the birdbath.

So he can unlock S&S ECU? Please send his contacts (probably PM to avoid any sort of legal issue for the shop).

Been too hot to do much open car motoring of late but one thing is clear: cold or hot the engine always lights right up on a bump start. Roll it down a modest hill or call on couple of sturdy friends for a push, pop the clutch in 2nd and varoom! Any thoughts?

Have you tried a new battery?

After five pages and as many months I think a summary is in order.
Some while back the car began to have trouble restarting. This grew to be trouble starting at all. New battery (400CCA), new fuel filter, new plugs. Timing and fuel pressure fine. It is not "sumping". Cranks fast and almost catches with the starter, starts readily every time if you bump start it. Thanks.

The only things not touched were the coil pack and the regulator.

Can ProTune tell about the intensity of the spark?

Mark, long shot- have you measured the volt drop across the battery terminals when cranking i.e does it plummet and mess up the electronics?

Spent the entire day at the S&S authorized dealer. Bupkis. Had to be push started again to leave the place. S&S says ask Morgan, Morgan says ask S&S. It seems absurd that no one can find a way to this problem. I know! Next time I'll buy a Honda.
