You could do this in your apartments underground parking area.
OR on your kitchen table... Even you would never get away with the smell of gear oil in the kitchen!

Pop the parts in the dishwasher first I am guessing you are not married😂. The name Bobbit would be brought up if i used the dishwasher for car parts.

The nut on the pinion shaft is 33mm you will need a socket.
Mark the position of the nut in relation to the shaft. I did this with a cut from a Dremel tool. The oil will wash off any marks from a "magic marker"
The nut is peened over into cutouts on the shaft. You will have to bend these out. This is a left hand thread.
You will have to remove the drive shaft hoops to move the drive shaft out of the way after you unbolt it from the bevel box. I cut mine with an abrasive wheel. I did not want to re-weld them in the confines of the cockpit so I built a method to bolt them back in. Used 1/8 steel 3" long cut to the width of the width of the hoops. I centered the steel on the back side of the cut off portion of the hoop and plug welded in place. Once this was done on both sides of the hoop, I put them back into position and drilled a 1/4 inch hole through to bottom stub of the hoop and the backing plate and bolted in place with a 1/4" bolt.
I have already put the interior back in, but if anyone wants a sketch of what I did please message me and I will send you one. Now the removal of 4 bolts will allow you to remove the drive shaft hoops.
Pull the old seal, put in the new one. When tightening the bolt back go slowly and tighten it to exactly the same spot that you had marked before removal. Re peen the bolt to the shaft.

You dont need to remove the drive shaft hoops to get clearance to lift out the bevel box. After un bolting the box from the driveshaft , simply push the driveshaft forward ito the gearbox. It is on splines and will move forward a couple of inches, well enough to get the bevel box out.

I replaced the seal with the bevel box in place. To do it that way, you need to remove the drive shaft hoops to get access to the nut. Can be done by removing the box, but that brings it's own set of issues.
