Thanks for that. I wasnt aware how far the intrusion had moved since my one and only serious RTA 15 years ago.. That said, its not the serious RTA that worries me so much as the routine traffic stop or minor collision. Or David R example of a minor technical issue that doesnt affect an incident anyway.

Early last year I serioulsy considered to install a pair of dashcams in my car. But without reason I just didn't.

Next year I'll change my car in June (contractual date). And in the new one I will install a good one for sure. I'm thinking about the Blackvue brand. But also Thinkware seems to have good products. Many good (and expensive) choices out there.

Now in Spain they are accepted in most of the trials in case of accident, so I believe it's worthy to have one onboard.

I decided to fit one in the Jag after an acquintence lost her licence for hitting someone on a pedestrian crossing - 3 months licence suspension. and a hefty fine.

The only problem with that was that she was stationary when the gypsy threw himself on the bonnet of her car and then rolled on the ground. All witnessed from the footpath by a relative of said gypsy. Unfortunately there were no other witnesses and she had no dash cam (she now does, by the way). The police probably understood it was a faked accident but were powerless to do much about it. Personally I think a good lawyer would have had a chance to win the case but perhaps not.

I got no arguments from insurance companies when I was able to show that I had been stationary, after slowly coming to a halt, at a reasonable distance from the car in front when I was hit from behind and pushed into the car in front of me.

Seconds after that Jaguar Assistance was automatically on the phone asking if an ambulance was needed - fortunately not.
