Just for balance as a kid in the '50s before the vaccination was readily available I nearly died of Whooping Cough .... my parents made me a bed up downstairs with a kettle boiling by the open fire to moisten the air .... no treatment, nothing that could be really done .... you either made it or you didn't.

Bit of a precursor for today's situation ... just kids, rather than oldies, in the firing line .

Sounds Victorian, but that was the reality pre-vax and without the newly invented medical interventions.

Yes - I kept my sense of humour in spite of being brought up in a cardboard box and having to slave in the mill for 25 hours a day.
I`m now awaiting Kev to tell me that by comparison with his , mine was a life of luxury! - segue into the Monty Python sketch........ rofl

Absolutely. Once I sailed close to the wind, now I sail the majestic white shed on wheels through the narrow winding lanes of Great Britain.

Ink wells and chucking the wooden handled nib pens at each other, some of the kids scratched their skin and attempted a tattoo..

Stink bombs (glass phials) dropped in the school corridor went down well.

Playing knuckles in the playground till the back of your hands bled..

I can remember back in the day you could buy a bottle of Corona(the range of pops that was) for a shilling and get thruppence back when you returned the empty bottle. With the money from the returned deposit I could buy a packet of crisps, which when consumed would leave me more thirsty than before I had drank the bottle of Corona. That's what I call cunning marketing, thank you Mr Corona for trapping me in this vicious circle.
