Got some water in the footwell after the car was left standing for 2 days in torrential Welsh thunderstorms with the hood up and a John Taylor cover fitted.

No sign of any leaks through the hood / cover but because of the uphill parking attitude it did occur to me that water might run down the wing and collect in the area to the back of the wing where it meets the footwell and bulkhead and seep through into the footwell.

The joint between the wing and the bulkhead seems particularly vulnerable to water collection and seepage.

Hopefully the photo shows the area and I wondered if that is a known leakage point and whether it should be sealed.

Thoughts please!!

My John Taylor cover is just under 2 years old, but is no longer waterproof. In the last few downpours it's been very ineffective. It does dry out pretty quickly though.

Yesterday gave it a going over with a litre of fabsil so hopefully that will improve its water resistance.

Not wishing to spoil the party, but you are right to ask as that spot CAN be a source of water ingress in to the frame.

I know that DaveW did an item on it in one of the MSCC ‘Miscellany’ magazines a couple of years ago, & there is also a section on “prevention” in his excellent ‘Modern Morgan’ book 👍. (Is this enough references, DaveW? - we know how modest you are🤗)

Thanks Arthur!

Use Captain Tolleys in the corners. If that's where it leaks, it will seal.

If you'r a dab hand with a mastic gun you can squirt a bit of translucent mastic in there.

Thanks all.

With the amount of water in the footwell, I think I'd better order another bottle of Captain Tolleys Creeping Crack Cure although I would have thought sealing with a flexible mastic would be better.

I'll try CT first then mastic if that doesn't do the job.
