I used tons of CTCC on my old S2A Land Rover roof to try and stop it leaking.

Didn't work, but it was bit like trying to plug the Titanic.

I'll try CT first then mastic if that doesn't do the job.

I'd do the reverse. I think CT is for sealing leaks so small you can't find them. Silicone sealant along those two seams is far more appropriate in my opinion.

While it might be that hve you checked the water isn't simply coming out of the heater box drain pipes. If you look at the heater box there are 2 vents, one each side. They basically spill water onto the car mats.

It's an idea John but I think the water is running down the outer edges of the footwells and the heater drains are on the inside of the footwells near the gearbox tunnel. However it's a thought and I will check again.

Not sure whether your 4/4 is the same, Ivormog, but if I am caught out parked in the rain in my 1998 +4, the rain runs in to the heater air intakes through the four bonnet louvres nearest to the windscreen..... As you can see, there are ‘drain’ tubes at the bottom of the heater box (showing the near side in the photo), and I know that some Mog owners have fitted flexible rubber hose pieces to these drains to take any ingressed rainwater down & out of the engine bay.

BTW - I recently bought some matching nylon coated "GORETEX" type fabric and made up an extension for our storm cover, attached across the front section, which completely covers the bonnet louvres...... a couple of 4mm loops of black elastic fasten over the front indicator lamps & all is good now - as long as I remember to put the storm cover on 🤔🤷🏼‍♂️!

Thanks Arthur,

I've got those drain tubes as well but I also have some sort of drain inside the car although I'm not exactly sure where that runs from.

Interesting idea to add an extension to the cover. Might have a look at that.

Also look inside above the gearbox tunnel there are 2 more drain points. Some are piped through the fire wall. Others just dump on the mats inside.

Nice to meet up with you also.

At least I've got a witness now to confirm how much rain we've had in Wales over the last few days.

Just about to order a 120 degree wiper motor gear.
