Can anyone share a product name or link to the right material that I should use to separate the wooden frame from the chassis? And likewise - what is the best product to use to "glue" the bulkhead to the frame? While I still have quite some way to go before I can remount the frame on my newly painted chassis - I have noticed that there is gum-like rubber material one the underside of the frame. Unfortunately I have no idea what this is. 3mm thick x 50mm wide rubber strip and plenty of Sikaflex mastic on both sides
Can't remember where the rubber strip came from though

In past times I think the MMC used what builders term as Damp Proof Coating, (DPC) which was bitumen coated flexible material, used to isolate low level brickwork on a building from the next layer of bricks above to stop rising damp.. I think MMC used it to allow a degree of flexibility between the chassis and the wooden frame. I also think some may have used THICK tar impregnated roofing felt to achieve the same ends, though being careful to avoid the roofing felts that had a coarse surface, designed to resist weathering on roofs.
Modern DPC tends to be plastic based and does not afford the degree of compressive flexibility of old style DPC...but as Arwyn suggested a dose of Sikiflex or other high quality flexible material applied to the material should provide a degree of flexibility...?
I have no idea where the rubber strip mentioned may be sourced, sorry.

Thank you all for the replies. On my 1984 Morgan I definitely habe the bitumen coated material mentioned. The body caulking strips look good - but I guess the Sikaflex/rubber options is a little cheaper and Sikaflex easier to use on the bulkhead to frame connection. Sikaflex has many different variants - I looked for "Sikaflex mastic" and believe that Sikaflex 221 and 291 are the right product to use for metal to wood. I will order Sikaflex 221.
