I know a few have been onboard this vessel, I sailed to the Isles of Scilly on it once when the Scillonian had broken down and it was a lovely craft.

Almost a sister ship to our own Dart based Kingswear Castle steam driven paddle steamer.

That is sad news. It seems crashing is all the rage at the moment.

I have "sailed" on both of them quite a few times. The Kingswear Castle was based at Chatham Dockyard for quite a few years and I used to have the great pleasure of sailing my gaff rigged winkle brig along side it on a nice day.

Had a great day on it when the grandsons were small. At the time it was doing day trips out of Porthcawl to minehead.

Might take a bit more than T-cut. Hopefully not too much structural damage to the old girl, seems to have been in the wars before!

When I was a kid living on the Cowal Peninsular, we went on Waverley and it got stuck in a loch and there was talk us having to be rescued but after some very worried and sweaty engineers got the boat turned, we got back OK

Then a few weeks after that it had run aground somewhere and everybody had to rescued

Think thats the second time she has hit a pier, they used to do booze cruises down they clyde on friday night with live music there was a group of use used to go every month.

I remember her doing the S Wales to Devon runs plus booze cruises around the Gower and Swansea Bay. Never managed a trip though. Reading the history of mishaps above though....how many of the 9 lives are left?
