I Agree, looks great. Probably prettier than the Bugatti that sold for $88,000

Do you guys ever bid on any of these auctions ?
I must confess, I have developed a bit of a habit of buying art online at auction. There are 4 British painters whose work I collect. I have them logged with sites that flag up when they have work being sold at auction. I think I've been pretty successful at it, my wife is ok with it, and my daughter reckons I have a problem and should get help.

I imported a Nissan Silvia from Japan, I owned the car for 18 years and it was great fun to drive so was worth it. However the import process is very complex and expensive and you really want to get all the permits etc. organised before the car leaves the other country, cars arriving without the permits must be stripped for parts at the wharf and never used as a complete car.. So I have not bid on any of these cars and probably never will. Both the Bugatti and MG boat tail have the steering wheel on the correct side for Australia so more tempting but I have a Frontline based MGB project going to keep me entertained car wise without worrying about the hassles of importing cars.
There are separate rules for pre 1949 cars but whether a 1924 Bugatti built in 2014 counts as 1924 or 2014 would be debated, I could lose and I doubt it would pass 2014 ADR rules. Would the 1949 MG count as pre 1949, to me pre means before so not equal or greater than.
I do look on Reverb for guitars but also not bought any mainly because I haven't found something that falls into the i really want to have category. Also a good friend is a luthier and some of the repairs he has had to do on guitars on Reverb advertised as good condition does scare me off a bit.

Pandy, the problem with bidding at these auctions from Australia are our regulations and distance. To import a vehicle to Australia you need to get an import approval first so it is unlikely you will get that in time. You could take the risk, buy the car, have it stored and take your chances with the authorities. I acknowledge you would probably get approval for most of the vehicles on BaT however the import regulations, while not insurmountable, are significant and potentially expensive. My interest with BaT centers on the wide range of vehicles submitted to an auction process that provides excellent price discovery and tends to draw an extensive log of commentary, much of which is interesting and offen well informed.

I note that the MG comes with "Andrex" shock absorbers - did they come before 'brown trousers'.

That didn't exist back in 2002 when i bought my Silvia.
