Is it just me that hates driving the car with the roof up?

Love it with the roof down, or with half the tonneau in place, although it flaps like mad.

There is a surprising amount of space with the roof up but it feels like you're driving in a tent with windows.

Put the roof up for the first time yesterday with no problem, but trying to put it back down and fold it correctly was a bit of a nightmare.

As soon as I completed it, the rain started again.

Where's this bloody heatwave?

So many miles, so little time (to put the hood up)

I only put it up because it was parked up at my office in some really heavy downpours.

Think I'll try to rely on the tonneau and one of those shower cap thingies!

Might invest in a souwester too.

Funnily enough, this weekend I met a french couple who have an Ivory +8 with blue leather (35th anniversary model). Turns out they live in the same village as me, so they invited me round for a drink yesterday & a bit of mutual mog admiring. They were astounded that I hadn't opted for an easy up hood. I pointed out to them that I bought it to drive with the roof down, and unless it's absolutely hosing it down it's tonneau & shower cap every time, & IMHO the look of the car with the trad hood (ie hood off) is so much better. Even when I do put the roof up, the sidescreens only go on as a last resort. On my way back from blighty last week, on a (rare) lovely summer's afternoon a swiss plated roadster was queuing for the tunnel, roof up, sidescreens on. I went to chat with the owner.......he prefers to drive it with the aircon on. À chacun son goût.

Davel, I suppose the answer is very much one of each to his/her own.I have aero screens on mine and the windscreen and hood resides in the barn where it has been comfortably ensconsed for the past seven years. Before that, even with a full screen I only used the hood to convey my wife to hospital for the birth of our son and he is now twelve. I don't think it matters too much as long as you are enjoying the car. Meabh.

Definitely +1 for hood down wherever possible and always when travelling alone. However when the lovely lady is with me, the sidescreens do sometimes go in. Also a couple of years ago when in France and subjected to a deluge, we opted for hood up but no sidescreens, we kept remarkably dry and it didn't feel like being zipped in a tent.

We mostly have a tintop or two to play with when it really is too foul for a topless drive - so no the roof and side screens mostly stay in the garage. Always a storm cover in the back though ! love
