Thank you for sharing images of your tour to places I am very fond of Rog. Would be interested to know how you got from North Wales to the Yorkshire Dales though. I am not that keen on the roads in between the two areas.

We took mainly B roads and minor A roads to Chester and then south of Manchester to Glossop, Snake Pass to the outskirts of Sheffield and then a bit of M1 and A roads to our hotel 17 miles north of York.

Thanks Rog. That sounds great but I had imagined that you had gone up to Ribblehead first and then driven eastward from the order of your photographs.

For the second half of our trip we were based north of York and then just did day trips Westward to the Dales and then East to the moors.

I enjoyed the photo of the Ribblehead Viaduct, I assume an old RR structure. I hope you guys got to drive the Olivers Mount circuit, that would be great fun. The Yorkshire carwash reminds me of the time I drove my MTW over a county road that was flooded by the Mississippi River rather than backtrack 15 miles, looking back, I don't know that I would do that again. Great photos of the English countryside!

Ribblehead remains in use Inge. The Settle to Carlisle route was threatened with closure up to the 80s. Then there was a change of heart. The viaduct was restored but reduced to single track. The route remains in constant use, and is a favourite for steam specials.

I haven't driven Oliver's Mount for years, but as a motorbike track, it's incredibly narrow for cars with tight hairpins either side of the start/finish straight.
