The two sided sticky tape holding rear view mirror to the screen is, I think, about to let go. Does the collective have any recommendations as to adhesives or tapes to reattach? Googling solutions seems to have reviews ranging from superb to rubbish for the same product?

Thanks for any help

I used a Locktite with a mesh (it came as a kit from Halfords) when it fell off on my last car - a bit fiddly but worked very well and did not fall off again. I think the tape ones tend to go soft in hot weather sometimes.

You need a special glue. From memory Librands sell it

I have the original new double sided sticky pads, you can have one for £1 inc postage, just let me know.

I tried to adjust my mirror yesterday. It fell off. The ball and socket assembly was frozen.

I tried velcro but the mirror suffered from erectile dysfunction, drooping pathetically.

I tried the double sided stuff used to fix number plates but the the mirror shook like an alcoholic with the DTs.

I bought some Loctite Super Glue from Screwfix. Works a treat.

My trick is, next time you see a mobile 'screen fitter working pop over & commend him (or her) on the quality workmanship & during the conversation bung 'em some beer money for a handful of the double sided stickers the pros use, sorted ! and you've got some spares then too smile

Tony be care ful I was told superglue can cause the screen to crack as it has a low coefficient of thermal expansion.
Better is to use the specific adhesive as sold by Halfords etc
See you tomorrow

The best thing I've found is to nip into your local Ford dealer and ask for the double-sided pads they use for the rear-view mirrors in Fiestas and the like.

You'll just have to cut around the pads to get the right shape for your mirror, but it's a very simple job, and they're pretty cheap, too. ( Get a couple just in case...)
And make sure your screen is really clean.

Good luck.
