Hello, just after some opinions/advice/whatever. I've started the ball rolling to change my car which is an '86 CVH 4/4 and phoned my insurance for a quote for a 2003 1.8 4/4 and they wanted nearly double which I really don't understand. OK it's a bit faster but repair costs'll be the same. Anybody out there experienced this? I'm with LV, anyone got any better places? I'd appreciate any thoughts. Thanks Simon

Speak to Gott & Wynne. You should have no problems, and a better premium. http://www.gottandwynne.co.uk/

No Problem - I have been with them for 7 seven years, without any issues.

change my car which is an '86 CVH 4/4 for a 2003 1.8 4/4 BTW - Are you retaining the same gearbox? Are you using a standard engine? Will the new engine retain it's engine management?

Sorry, you've misunderstood, I'm looking at selling and buying a replacement. I did look at changing the engine etc but changed my mind.

+1 I insure my 2001 Zetec 1.8 with G & W. I find them really good to deal with ( usual disclaimer- no connection other than a satisfied customer) Cheers G

I have just started my second year with Gott & Wynne. Class one business use + european cover + unlimited mileage + agreed value. The price is competitive to all others I have been quoted.

I agree, however we have only ever used G&W for the Mog. You dont say how much you have been quoted. My wife' first ever own car insurance was for a 2007 1.8 4/4 was £280 with limited annual mileage (3000) & guaranteed value. When we changed to the 2.9 Roadster one year later it only rose to £320 which was excellent. I'm not sure how much it increases if you increase the mileage limit?
