Lovely collection Kevin. I have a few decent old cameras, but not in the same league as you and am wondering what to do with them as I don't use them any more. Only a few have true sentimental value and, of course, I am now regretting losing a few on the way including a naval issue Reid III with Taylor Hobson lens. I definitely wished I hadn't traded that in many years ago! Yes the Reid is rising in desirability as it is rare compared to the Leica and probably every bit as good, Naval issue would be a very rare item.

Nice cameras Kevin. Thanks for posting, I'd never heard of the Contarex (exposing my ignorance), is it heavy and hard to use or a delight? Nick

That is a fine collection of cameras Kevin, and very nicely displayed too. They are fine examples of mechanical engineering from a time gone by when engineering was valued. Modern cameras are fantastic requiring far less training and skill to grab a first class pic, I have even seen far superior pics to any I have managed to capture on my circa 25kg of kit, captured and processed on a cell phone... Yup the world moves on indeed. Thanks for sharing.

Great camera collection. Pleased to see you still use them, even if not as regularly as in the past.

Love the drawings - and the cars of course, particularly the Austro Daimler. What a great family collection to have.

What a fantastic thing to have in your possession. That is a real piece of motoring history as well as a family treasure.

Thanks for sharing photos Luddite, takes me back to serving my apprenticeship at Doxfords marine engine builders Sunderland.Test bed running would be 24hours for 3/5days and at certain revs600/750 those massive marine engines would shake and vibrate like a Morriss A engine in a car.especially on sea trials.Notice cat at control engineers feet, the rough and tough marine engineers of heavy engineering were all softies at heart coming into the machine shops at holiday time to feed cats.Cheers I've sailed on a Doxford engined ship, quite an experience, but your mind must be playing tricks, the big ones never revved at 600, more like 110 rpm. Here's one (or rather two) in action. Go straight to 6.15 mins to see the top pistons showing their skirts and the rubber hose arrangement for water cooling. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5k6sOQLKuro
