Have been to the TÜV on friday - so MOT with the ecomobile.

What seems simple for any kind of registered vehicle is different for a cabin motorcycle.
The engineer is not supposed to drive it.

In Germany a test drive is recommended for a motorcycle MOT or TÜV.
The regulations for the ecomobile recommend an extra course before you are allowed to drive it on public roads. And that does perfectly make sense.

So - I had to face a new engineer facing a short sentense for start: "please give me a shor introduction and hand over the keys."
Me: "Are you sure you want to dump it and pay for it?"
He: "I have to drive it."
Me: "Think of my question - are you sure you want to pay for it?"
He: "ok - I can`t do the test if I must not drive."
Me: "I did not say you must not drive - I said you will not be able to. I would teach you but it would take a day or two... And I add that no TÜV engineer ever drove it the last 28 years..."
He: Did more than just test it and found nothing to complain about - puh...

Want to see why?

I can agree. I‘ve got the last registrated Vespa 150 Sprint Veloce and a 2002 Harley FXDX (not customized), both original, nearly like new and first owner.

I love both. Knowing about the „driving procedure“ I allways say: „nicht hinschmeissen“ (don‘t crash it). The engineer allways answers: I never crash a bike, I can ride it, It‘s insured...

Allways I‘m in fear about the bikes.

Money can‘t cure everything.

Reminds me of a LightCycle from the film Tron

In Italy they do the brake and emission tests on a specialised type of rolling road. Everything else is checked visually or with equipment as appropriate. Other than put the car or bike on the machine, and control it whilst it is there, no test ride or drive is required.

There has nothing been invented for Tron.
Cabin motorcycles date back a 100 years.
For obvious reasons they did not make it to the mass market.

Fun to drive but hard to learn...

Miklos, is your 1992 model (re your template) equipped with a BMW ICE engine, not the electric version of the youtube video?

That´s it. My 1992 model is a standard eco with the 1000cc BMW ICE engine used in the K100.
90HP that are good for 240kph max. just because of good aerodynamics and low front surface.

So it is much more like this - but this video is without dumping it...

The Carver with fixed 3 wheels and tilting mechanism is a similar type of vehicle. A fully enclosed M3W with tilting. I think they stopped making an ICE version but have moved to EV.

Spec puts it at 100km range/top speed 45.
A proper Sinclair C5!
