You should perhaps change swmbo for something more respectful ... after all, it's not every other-half that would let you use the kitchen worktops for engine rebuilds

That is very tempting. If only I could persuade Mrs F that the tall cupboard full of horse rugs does not need space in the garage, then I would have room for it.

I have one of those, very useful especially as you can wheel it around the garage to where you are working.

My daughters old kitchen units for me - floor cabinets and worktop in the shed, wall units hanging in the garage. Plenty of storage for tools and car cleaning stuff.

I was very fortunate in that Kevin the former owner of my Morgan had already set it up as a tourer, thus had created a couple of recessed tool trays cut into the board, one each side of the crown wheel and pinion of the axle. Contained within these trays there was a spare fuel pump a set of four spark plugs, a set of seals for both front calipers and rear wheel cylinders, also brake and clutch master and clutch slave cylinders. , exhaust paste and support bobbins, a set of ign leads, a cylinder head gasket, various spare lamps and a few meters of electrical cable, insulating tape, bullet connectors, spare fan belt, top and bottom rad hoses, some rad weld, Araldite rapid and a variety of jubilee clips, nuts and bolts Rotor arm, dizzy cap and a couple of pints of oil...overalls and a Wanner grease gun full of grease,, had to seek out more grease on lengthy one trip. Well you did ask..? (-:

As for tools, again Kevin had created an extra tool box mounted on the bulkhead just in front of the original tool box which has room enough for numerous spanners sockets etc. During our foreign travels we found the old +8 to be wonderfully reliable, only requiring the fan belt to be replaced and a moulded rubber hose feeding one of the carbs cracked and began to leak, which was easily repaired with a length of rubber tube carried under the drivers seat.

All of which may be thought to be of little value if one does not have the ability to carry out the repairs one`s self, however with a set of spares I guess a local mechanic could easier perform the required repairs..? when we were travelling the hope was that Land Rover V8`s would be reasonably common in most countries we visited. Seem to remember that the GoMoG webmaster also carried a spare king pin bushes screwed to the floor while on his extensive travels...

Actually what I carry in the tool tray and behind seats would probably fill a fair part of the tool chest wink

The latter is just to free up space in our utility room which not only houses my bike but an ever increasing range of tools and spares.
