Because the fools who write the software do not have a duty of care written into the contract.

I had a Dart Crossing account. Because I hadn't used it for a year they advised me it would be closed unless I put more money in. The balance was about £16.
There were no other options. So they closed the account and then I had to jump through hoops to get a refund, which was only possible by cheque.
Narrow minded thinking. Why not just leave the account open? Beats me. That's just daft. When you think of all the customers' cash they are holding on account interest free, I fail to see how it can be such an inconvenience to them. It's not as though they have the expense of sending out accounts through the post.

Bit surprised you bothered to try and pay Pandy. My understanding is that we dont try and recover fines from foreign registered vehicles whther speeding or congestion or parking.

Because the fools who write the software do not have a duty of care written into the contract. Definitely a big problem. When in Uni many years ago we were taught Fortran to use for a lot of our work. The lecturer made us do a manual version of what we were working on (simulation, bank account system, database etc) , then a flowchart before writing the code. In effect ironing out problems in the Design and development stages? Also to build in user friendly interfaces and not assume that a user had enough tech savvy. Years later I worked with a colleague on replacing a software package, he was the computer expert. We used the TickIt quality standard (BS5750 for software) as a basis. Dry runs were done, even getting a couple of people as guinea pigs, before putting it live. Using plain English helps too not tech terms that lay people wouldn’t know.

On the subject of paying: last year we were in France for Montlhèry and then a holiday. We used the Péage three times, paying with a Visa credit card. The card has never been charged. A total of 48€. Bud 4/4 - Stanley

True for speeding but my understanding is it is a french company Sanef that runs DRC so probably can trace french reg numbers.

They have a UK office based in Harrogate, so assume they can access DVLA records if needed
