Alistair’s experiences are excellent. Whatever car you get into you have a learning curve for how it responds and feels.
When I changed from a 4/4 to my Plus8 there was a learning curve there! Initially lighter footed and tending to stay in higher gears due to plenty of torque. Almost like an auto but without gear changes.
Familiarity with how the auto box behaves is a must, especially with modern auto boxes. A Morgan is lighter than a BMW so the power surge would be greater. I do like the paddle alternative though. Sounds like a good option to mute any surge effect.
Food for thought.
Test drive......how does the car feel for comfort compared to a trad.? How does the car feel and respond to right foot movement? An accompanied test with someone who knows the auto and how it reacts is a must. Maybe they could put together a series of steps to go through to help the learning? Rev limit initially then when happy go to higher revs with auto option/paddle demo?

The car feels very different to my GDI plus 4. No crashes and bangs over bumps, it feels a lot more solid then the trad with the side screen being noticeably more solid. On the road the handling and suspension feel like a modern car compared to a trad...and the power is fantastic. During normal driving it feels as fast as a plus 6 but does not quite have the mental edge the plus six has. Overall my impression immediately after the test drive was very impressive. After driving my plus 4 home I did feel it had also lost something. It didn’t feel like an old sports car, it’s strange how the limitations of the trads also add something I found special. I’ll still probably have a new plus four auto at some point in the future as it is such a good car.

I must admit I thought I saw a "CS" but you are probably correct in that it was in fact "OS". Have you experienced it a lot in the Plus Six? I felt it came on very early on the Plus Four , and once illuminated it dominated the digital display , so I would want to turn it off as quickly as possible. I guess that means you have to stop each time it happens and cycle the ignition on/off/on. I can't imagine stopping after every hairpin bend on the a long climb like the Stelvio.

I wonder if it generates a fault code in the ECU which also has to be erased.

Would be nice with a 2,5 litre conventionally aspirated engine at about 210 hp. But then it would probably be a hassle to get it paet pollution controls.

Someone said the auto solution was to engage sport mode and it only jumps up and down one gear at a time.

Andy,
I was not so sure about the situations when the overseer fault came on. Now today, during a relaxed drive on a small road where I was enjoying the views, that fault came on again and stayed for the rest of the trip. So, no speedo in sight line until return home.... That had no relation to spirited driving then, must be something else. At home I searched my OBD scanner to read the code but, guess what, when I came back to the car, the fault was gone. So tomorrow I will visit the dealer to see what they can find.
Summary: Must be a real Morgan.

Regards,

Markus
