Hi Keith Not familiar with the GDI but would hazard a guess that the non-Ford MBE ECU doesn’t control the speedo over any of the OBD2 CAN protocols and perhaps the speedo grabs its pulses directly from the sensor on the front wheel hub? Awaiting to be shot down.....  Exactly what I was going to say!

Yes, on my GDI none of the ELM that I had tested was working... To read from the ODB CAN the only way was the MBE 985 OBD CAN to USB connector and easymap 6 software installed on your PC.

I have the Torque app and on my GDI +4 it does not seem to be able to read speed. It cheats and displays the speed according to the GPS from the phone!

Yes I think so.… But I did say I was guessing re the GDI and it would be good if somebody has managed to accesse the vehicle speed data. I too wanted to rig up a digital speed display with the Duratec +4. It uses a Ford EEC-V ECU that uses J1850 on OBD pins 2 & 10. The vehicle speed data did not appear to be available or accessible. Good luck with yours.

Interesting that the loom diagrams in the 2014 onwards Classics parts book show a connector for output shaft sensor (next to reverse switch) for the Roadster, but not for +4 or 4/4. The GPS will most likely be more accurate anyway, I use a digital dashtop readout of speed taking data from the OBD2 port and it's around 5 - 8% high

The Classic parts book for the 2014 onwards +4 shows a VSS sensor on the chassis page, is this the Vehicle speed sensor?. I assume it comes from one of the front wheels as when I had my car on a RR dyno the other week the speedo did not work. The signal must end up in the ECU at some point as the tickover speed does depend on road speed.
I do find the later wiring diagrams hard to read, or is it just me?

What car/engine do you have that you've managed to get a speed readout from the OBD port? And which digital readout device do you have, please? It seems that many of us have failed to get such speed-display devices to work via OBD.
