Hi guys, I guess its totally irrelevant to Morgan, but i think I've just discovered that a giant like Mercedes has made a simple but unforgivable mistake!!
One of my friends was commenting how much better his E 250CDI saloon auto compares to C250CDI estate auto in terms of fuel consumptions. He's picking up his new E250CDI in Sept. I didn't believe him, so he went on the merc site click on edition 125 and downloaded E class price list, and indeed, it was achieving better mpg figures than C class! E class 45.6 urban, 67.3 extra urban and 57.6combined, which incidentally exactly same figures as E220 CDI !!! C class 44.1 urban, 62.8 extra urban and 54.3combined
BUT !! When I downloaded E class ebrochure, the figures are completely different?!
E class 36.2 urban, 64.2 extra urban and 48.7combined, which are also exactly the same figures for E220CDI !!!
Hope I am not confusing anybody here? But which one is correct? Unless I've made a mistake somewhere, an oversight like this shouldn't happened to a giant like Mercedes. And surely Mercedes must risk having their orders being cancelled or sued by buyer whom bought the car based on first set of figures(assuming its incorrect)

Firstly, I am surprised mercedes are quoting MPG figures don't they know we are metric now?, or was it an american site? Secondly, does anyone buy a car and expect it to provide the fuel consumption that the manufacturers suggest?
Theres probably a disclaimer somewhere(in a tiny font, in an obscure part of the website) stating that anything you read on the website may be incorrect or subject to change without notice!

Deffo UK site, displaying pound sterling, got the link for specs and price list, but could not get the link for the brochure.. http://www2.mercedes-benz.co.uk/content/..._saloon_and.pdfUnderstand no one is going to believe manufacturers figures, but it wouldn't surprise me if someone would try to pull a quick one from Mercedes for publishing wrong figures

Forgot to mention that the two different sets of figures also has two co2 figures, which would mean that one would only need to pay £115road tax, the other would be £165!
The owner would be in a bit of shock come renewal thinking its only £115.

I think you will find that all manufacturers selling in the UK quote mpg figures. Strange really as we buy our fuel in litres!
Autocar did a test of a number of cars a couple of months ago to check out fuel consumption against the official figures.....most were below apart from a couple, BMW being one.

Maybe they have revised the engine management or something, with the website showing the new figures, the brochure having been printed prior to this showing the pre update figures (or the other way around!)

I recently got an E200 sport blue CDI auto (2.1 litre), claims were something crazy like 53 mpg, actually get 33.8 mpg! But still love the car, and it,s 6 mpg better than the C200 sport that I had previously Steve L

My MB figures have proven to be quite accurate. The datasheet promised me a combined figure of 19.8mpg. I am getting 18 in town and 23 on the motorway at legal(ish) figures.
I was expecting a lot worse so the documents proved true for me.
Of course we could start a conversation about the mprt or miles per rear tyres. This is slightly shocking. I have flattened a rear pair already within 5000 miles and they were almost new when I received the car. I have not even turned off the traction control system and done a Clarkson for heavens sake ?
I think they need to introduce a new test to the system to cover this shocker.
Everyone loves a Morgan. Even me, unless it's broken again.

My friend picked up his E250CDI on Thursday, came and see me, and he said according to the computer, he was averaging 32mpg not been on motorway. He took me out for a quick spin, I must admit I was very impress, it was very smooth and quite, felt plenty of pull from the engine, even from low revs, if I didn't know, I'd have thought it was a 6cylinder engine, but it gave the game away when he put his foot down, it starting to sound gruff!!
