We always had cats and a dog.
This one got 3 years old before it was rum over by a car.
Life in the countryside is more fun for cats, but also a shorter life span

The two ladies were careful. 21 and 24 years till their life span expired

Chris, sorry to hear your bad news. They had beautiful markings and looked the picture of health so it must have come as a real shock.

Hannes are you certain that's not a small alien wrapped in a fur rug ? shades

Could well be...
Most of our cats behaved like aliens who own the house, but this is something rather common to cat people

Sorry to hear about your mog ..... always hurts to lose them, but even more so when they're young and full of fun.

Hannes .... when we moved even further out into the country 30 years ago, being away from roads for the cat's benefit was a dealbreaker when looking for property ... ended up 1.5km up a gravel track from the nearest tarmac road (and that's a single-track lane) ... cat-heaven here.

My heart goes out to you Chris.....I have been through the ordeal several times myself.
I swore that I would never have another after having to euthanize my Franky last September.
(Chronic Kidney Disease) He had been with me for over 19 years.
Then, early this Spring I heard some faint meowing in one of my hedges and my heart melted once more.
She is a fantastic huntress, but also knows how to relax!....seems tractor seats make good cat futons.
I've named her "Tootsie". smile

Thanks everyone for your wishes and the great photos. Haines sad about your cat being run over at 3. Certainly a very large cat, how did the car survive?

I am a mix of annoyed and sad. Annoyed to have to bury two pets within a year from horrible illnesses as I expected my kitten to last a lot longer, sad because he was so full of life but his little life has been cut so short. Also realising I have spent nearly 20% of the new +4 110 Anniversary model I was thinking of ordering in early 2019 on Vet bills doesn't make me any happier but I am sure I would spend it again to try save them.

I am also worried about his brother as he often gets a bit of diarrhea which is a symptom of Feline Corona virus. The vet said chances are both cats have it but there is a 90% chance his brother Cheeky will not have it mutate into FIP.

We went to see him today and he was so happy to see us, he just wanted to cuddle and put his little arms around us, the sample for FIP was sent off yesterday and the vet was sure the results would be back today but the lab said they were busy and to wait. I expect we will know tomorrow if it is FIP. Not sure what to hope for as if is FIP they will put him down, if not they said his liver is so badly damaged they have to put him down soon anyway. I guess FIP means getting an answer and maybe some closure.

Cuddling mum like his life depends on it.
