Thank you all for your replies, I am now confident it does not belong to my car.
The car was dismantled some 20 years ago by a well meaning person / garage who for personal reasons was unable to continue with the restoration, the family who owned the car recovered the parts and must have picked up the panel in question by mistake.
It would be fun to discover what it was from however.
