Another option for those with the tall roll-bars with built-in headrests is to add lights on the back of the headrests.
I used these Dogeye Puckz and wired them as brake lights, running lights and turn signals. It makes the M3W a more visible in traffic, and they are really bright.
I wired them to the brake light connector, and then tapped into the turn signals and running lights.

Because what you propose is factory fit on the Australian version as above, the standard loom already includes connections for it. Look for two way connector tucked away with green/purple and black cables. You will just need the lamp pod U340032 and pedestal T400037 and drill a hole of course.

By the frame down close to the gas tank on the pump side.

I wondered enough to put a meter on them and found brake light. There are wires dangling at the down tube from the dash to the side cockpit tube and although I have not identified them i suspect side light power.

I found the finish on the aluminium upstand to be poor so this will require refinishing & polishing before fitting.




I haven't got around to fitting it yet, partly because it goes against the grain to cut a 12mm hole in the bodywork. Also, my car is a 2012 model so will almost certainly not have the necessary electrical connector in the wiring loom. Not a big problem I guess but another reason to put the project on the back burner for now!

By the way, in 2018 I paid Uncle Melvyn £38.31 for the lamp (U340032) and £8.67 for the pedestal (T400037). Both prices exclude VAT & delivery.
