If you're heading along the M6 near Kendal,there's a stunning stone B & B just out of town, in a lovely setting.
Really friendly and excellent breakfast. The rooms are lovely too. The only negative is that it's out of town but easy to get to and from and very quiet riverside spot.
It's called the Low Jock Scar at Selside and just off the A6. I know it sounds like an STD but it's a great find with plenty of off-road parking. A group of us stayed there with motorcycles a while back. 01539 823259
