I know I really should know this, but just to be sure... I have a 2002 Plus 8. How can I tell if it's a wide or narrow body (seems narrow to me)? I ask because I'm about to order the SSL suspension system.
Help greatly appreciated.
Cheers, Rick

Same car as me. Wide. Maurice Owen lengthened the Plus4 to accommodate the V8 and reputedly widened it at the same time to allow for a more portly driver! I read this the other day in a book. The wider chassis/body was then kept for the Plus4 as well. Can’t remember the actual later date but the door was lengthened too for getting in/out easier.

As per Simon and Sospan you have a wide bodied car.
The narrow bodies were on the very early Moss Box and Rover 4-speed boxed cars.
I think it went to "wide" in 1977 with the coming of the 5 Speed cars and the LT77 box.

The widest bodied trads (from all my measurements ) appear to be the 98 on centrelock wheel equipped Plus 8's.

Yes that was true Dave had us all measuring prior to his book I think and ours proved to be the widest rear wings of all, the tubs of the era being identical, there was a 5mm discrepancy left to right on mine so I know it's a Morgan.
