I have noticed some oil on the floor of the garage. At first I thought it was from something besides the Morgan. It wasn't. I felt the bottom of the engine under the cam belt cover and there was a light film of oil. I chased it forward and it appears to be coming out of the cover. I wiped the engine down and then drove the car. I came home and the engine bottom was damp again. So there is something leaking. Not sure how much work this is going to be to fix. The car is under warranty but there is no dealers anywhere close. With the car being a 2018 and no telling how long the car has set without running could mean that it is only a seal that is leaking. Have any of you experienced a leak in the cam belt area?

It sounds like there is a leak from either the crankshaft seal or one of the three cam seals, it is usually the crankshaft seal. You can remove the cam cover by removing the 4 Allen screws, there should be spacer washers between the cover and the cam plate. You should be able to see where the leak is from then. The seal should be done under warranty.

Hi. I had a leak from the crankshaft sensor, front righthand side of engine (Looking from the front). Remove screw with clip holding wiring loom and sensor pulls out. The only seal is a small O-ring around the sensor body. I cleaned the oil off and put a smear of Hylomar (Sealer) around the sensor body and on the flat plate that the screw passes through. That cured my problem.

I had leaks from two of the three camshaft seals. This was found at the first, 1000 mile service. MMC provided my dealer with a pre-assembled cam set already fitted to the front supporting cover. It was therefore a quick replacement job.

Mine has leaked since day 1 from the front crank pinion seal. Tried replacing the seal twice and only managed to reduce the leakage.

So now i use a bedpan when i park it.

MMC was of no help since my dealer went out of business. They would never consider sending a new camchest plate with seals installed to an owner. Pity, because from what i have seen my work is better than what is sold by mmc.

You can buy a cam chest plate with bearings and seals installed direct from S&S, call them. I ordered one by mistake when what I really needed was the outer cam belt cover. I returned the cam chest cover and got a refund.

I am sure it will be done under warranty because it is only a three weeks into my having the car. I guess my greatest fear is them honoring work without me having to take it to West Virginia to get the car repaired. I knew this going in, that buying from a dealer far off could cause some issues but I wanted one of these cars. I will say that Morgan of Morgantown West Virginia has been excellent to work with and their salesman has been top notch. He does what he says he will do and has always returned calls, texts etc. I wish I lived closer to them but it is what it is. As long as they will work with me, I don't mind doing the leg work on my end. I know some really good v-twin mechanics so getting it fixed will not be an issue if they will honor the warranty.

How much work is it to replace the seals or the camchest plate?

The cam drive seals are p/n SKF CR 8646 and the front crank seal is a TF 22x35x7 size seal if that helps? You will need to get some rocker cover gaskets and the front camchest plate gasket from an S&S supplier. The seals can be changed easily, you don't need the whole plate unless it's damaged.

Pretty easy with the dowel pins to locate the cams at tdc, torque wrenches, the ability to cleanly pull the gears off their cams and crank.

S&S uses some sort of locktite on the crank gear.

Proper wrench to fit the crank pinion.

Table of torque values.

I bet i left something out.

I did forget,,,getting the darn drive belt on, particularly a new one, is a PITA!
