I just received my 2017 a few days ago and today was the first day out on the road. Took a nice 70 mile trip but here is what I found my first day out. 1. I have an oil leak below the cam cover not bad but 3 or 4 drops over night. 2. the speedometer reads 5 miles fast. 3. My rear tire rubs backing up 4. then after backing up something rubber started to stink bad, smelled like a clutch or belt burning. I stopped and could not tell where the smell was coming from but in about 10 miles down the road the smell was gone. But is was fun and had many on lookers asking questions. I only got one key so I stopped by a lock smith and he made me a spare key. Now tomorrow I will try to find some of the rattles. Sounds like the dash and rear trunk is making a lot of noise.

One thing is the engine is easy to work on. It is right there in the open. Is there a service manual for this engine online?

Congrats on the new ride. There are a lot of squeaks and knocks but that is just part of it. If you have ever owned a Harley, you are used to funny noises. LOL. Mine was a new 2018 that was on the dealer floor. Mine had 40 miles on it when I got it. I think it sitting for 2 years or longer, caused the seals to leak. I am starting the process of getting it fixed. The problem being is that the car is going to have to go to a motorcycle shop to get repaired. I am not really feeling good about leaving it at a motorcycle dealer. I may just hire one of the mechanics I know to get the job done in his garage at his home. We will see what the dealership will allow. Good luck on you getting your leak fixed as well

Welcome! I can address a few of your issues:
1. I have an oil leak below the cam cover not bad but 3 or 4 drops over night.
Probably the crank seal, easily replaced. Mine was done under warranty. A bit of a PITA to do yourself, but not impossible.
2. the speedometer reads 5 miles fast.
Search for the thread on how to re-program the spedo to be more accurate. Mine also was 5-over until I reset the front tire revs and it now reads dead-on accurate.

I find the M3W is not as fast as the speedometer. It is really a PITA on a long trip as the speedometer arrives long before the M3w and I have to reunite them

I took the cam belt cover off to see if I could discover where the oil was coming from. The center bottom pulley and the one right above it. had a lot of waxy grease around them. There was a small amount of oil in the bottom little tray. So I cleaned everything really well and dried even cleaned the outside of the engine to see if it the oil back there could have been blown on it while driving. I started the car with the cover off and let it heat up and run at idle for awhile. I will see if it leaks after it sits for awhile.

Crank pinion seal. The tensioner above it does not penetrate through the camchest cover.

The burning smell may be because you were riding the clutch at some point. With mine it’s very difficult to do a hill start without getting that burning smell. Fortunately, it does soon go away. If it doesn’t, then check you haven’t taken off with the handbrake still on. I have done that more than once!
