For any TMers in possession of a private pilot's licence and who may have missed it, there was an article in the torygraph this weekend about a flying school that has a two seater spitfire you can fly.

http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/newstopi...a-Spitfire.html

For those who have no PPL and whose Biggles tendencies lean more towards WW1, there is of course the M3W.......soon.....we hope!!

Many year ago I had a client whose wife had bought him a Spitfire flight for his 40th birthday. From memory he was 44 by the time he'd got to the top of the queue.

Oh the days when I used to harass messerschmitts when I was in my spitfire, it brings back happy memories of forcing those little three wheeled bubble cars off the road in my Triumph

Very good!

By the time I actually owned a Spitfire all the Messerschmidts were in museums... And the Spitfire need a major overhaul...

Cheers,

My Spitfire Mk III now sits as a rusting hulk on my brother in laws drive. It was working when he bought it from me in 1980.

I never knew what happened to my 1965 Spitfire 4 after I sold it in 1972. I've gotta photo of my (now) wife sitting on the front of it - and one in an identical pose taken nearly 40 years later with the Mog.

September 2010 I was invited to fly as a passenger with the Blades ( http://www.theblades.biz/pages/home.php ).This was at their homebase Sywell.

The same day they made a photoshoot with a Spitfire 2 seater (see photo´s on the site). After the Photosession there was a possibility for one person to fly from Sywell to Duxfort as passenger with the Spitfire and get a ride back in a private aircraft against a donation to charity.I did not go hide because it was possible that I missed the flight with the blades, which was the original purpose of the day.
The guy who took the trip was just back in time, jumped of the private jet after returning from Duxfort, straight in the blades for his stunt flight. thumbs

If you ever have the possibility to fly with the blades, forget all the thoughts about stuntflights and just do it.It is amazing fun to do all these rolls, loopings etc.Far better than a rollercoaster! notworthy

We were playing a gig at a craft fair and bumped into an old friend who makes and sells rocking horses. Talking about cars amongst other things, we what he was up to. He said restoring an old Spitfire. What engine? Errr the V12....

Where did I put those old chisels?

I suppose that makes sense. Airworthy spitfires are as rare as rocking horse s**t these days.

Would love a flight in a Lancaster myself, I think it would be the best thing I would ever do.
