I should add that personally I’m pleased that I got one of the 2500 M3Ws and I’m looking forward to keeping it running until I can’t remember how it starts.

Yes, this is not a take to the big box store machine.

"maybe poorly engineered and executed should have been substituted for production...?"
I must say that I totally agree with this.
Mine was an early 2013 and although I got a lot of pleasure driving the car and attending numerous MTWC rallies since then, I have now sold the car after having most of the upgrades done and a few additional mods of my own.
I would define ownership as a roller coaster of elation and disappointment.
Elation:- From the absolute pleasure of driving it and the total camaraderie with fellow owners and club members.
Disappointment:- With the lack of proper development before launch, poor choice of materials and/or design (i.e. rear sprockets and chassis tubes and many other points too numerous to mention) and the failure to live up to expectations for a car costing this amount of money.
You need an incredible amount of patience and deep pockets to own one of these.
