I was looking for another car , I have my Morgan for special days ,my Morris Traveller for fun and taking the dogs out and my VW for every day . I now have a Smart Brabus Roadster ,i've had it for 6 weeks now and getting used to it . It seems the biggest complaint against them is that they are prone to leaks ,not a problem if you own a Morgan . It is a great wee car 700cc turbo auto with paddle shift , 101 HP and lighter than My 4/4 . It is a 2006 car so not exactly a classic but might be one day . It now fits into my garage between the 4/4 and the Traveller .

Enjoy Jimmy, my SIL has a standard Roadster and it's good fun to drive and yours with the extra oomph will be a delight I would think.

have fun with the Smart Roadster Jimmy - we have the Fortwo Cabrio and it is a lot of fun. If you haven't found it already, a lot of useful information here - https://www.evilution.co.uk/You do have to pay for some of the more detailed information , but it it is generally worth it. Also, the very worst leak on the Roadster lets water into the 'SAM' (like the ECU for the car). Most of these should have been sealed by now but it is worth checking as the SAM is very expensive to replace...... James

As consultants we used to get standard Smart cars as hire cars. 3 of us & 3 cars. They made great fun driving from Brussels to Nivelles. On roundabouts you can get one side off the ground! I always fancied a Roadster.

I must agree. We had one of only 75 built Smart i-move cabrios ( one for every MB dealer it seems.) Brilliant little car, great fun but it had to go after I fell in love with an Audi TT V6.
Here for a good time not a long time!! Reg

They just made me grin every time I got into one, just like my MG Midget

Milligoon of this parish has a Smart Roadster and knows about as much about them as DW does Trad Morgans. They are a good to be in. His has done over 100,000 miles and has been all over Europe, including North Cape! PM him if you want details of the best resources.

The better half has had Smart Cabriolets, 4 so far since 2002 and absolutely loves them to bits. We travelled 250 miles down to Bell & Coville to collect my Morgan in her Smart as she didn't want to drive my Mercedes cabriolet. It was quite novel to watch Morgan and Smart both in black, roofs down heading north in convoy.......... she was the Morgan support vehicle.

As soon as it was delivered I booked it in to Smart Cars Scotland and had it checked over and a full service plus the sealing of the SAM . The car had only done 3K miles since 2012 had a service in 2017 an oil change before it was sent up to me so I was happy to have a full service done for peace of mind . It has 26K from new and looks great ,I am very impressed with the heated seats and wish I had them in my Morgan . PS: the Morgan is still number 1.

I had a smart roadster years ago. Brilliant fun with gocart handling. The problem for me with the leaking was (luckily for me) not the sam unit but the carpets! The carpets are well nigh impossible to remove and have a two inch thick foam backing. They became drenched and I just couldn't dry them out. So every time I wanted to drive it I had to wipe down the insides of the windows and the whole cabin was wet through. No amount of air conditioning solved it. I also had a four two cabrio which didn't suffer from leaks at all. That was fun too, but not in the mg midget like fashion that was the roadster. Nick
