Folks I am working with a supplier to create a new peddle as mine sits 3 1/2 inches (85 mm) below the brake peddle. I want it more in line.

Could I ask if you own a 3.7l that you measure how far below the brake your peddle sits and let me know

I wonder if MMC designed it deliberately like that to avoid hitting the throttle at the same time as the brake, as I understand that the footwell is quite narrow on the Roadster?

I suspect you are spot on Deejay, having been in an emergency stop situation in my mid 80`s +8 where my shoe also caught the throttle, a good way of attracting attention for sure..!!!

Having worked for a number of car manufacturers over the years designing braking systems, including pedals, I can confirm that they are all very sensitive to the issue of “unintended acceleration” ( pressing the throttle pedal instead of the brake pedal). However I doubt Morgan would have designed the step over height to 31/2 inches (approx 90mm). For sports cars 35mm is more normal .

Earlier in the year one of my rear brakes overheated. Embarrassingly when I pressed the brake pedal it went all the way down with my foot taking the accelerator pedal with it.

Just a thought but before committing why not experiment and tape on a block of wood first to see the effect?

Well I now have it adjusted closer to the brake and now I can't get me foot trapped under the brake which was possible before.
Toe & heeling now works and the gap is more inline with our other cars. I may move it more to the right but I'll try it for a while first.




I would still appreciate feedback from others on the gap you have.

The early 3.7's had a wider transmission tunnel which made the footwell very tight for large shoes. As you can see from John's photos there is now a "cubby hole" to the right of the accelerator which allows you to have your foot at an angle to the pedal.

Didn't realise early 3.7's didn't have the extra side clearance. Nice perforated pedal cover BTW John. Does it space out from OE to further reduce gap to brake pedal?
