Who's Glen?  I was thinking a board wider than the footboard - you could recess the castors via the bottom on the outside edges, and then rout out a centre area on the top that the pedal board could sit in. Keep it as close to the floor as possible Sorry Phil, you use the same (or very similar) avatar to Glenn and I'm an addled old fart. Think I'll try the slider route first on the basis that it's the easiest and if it a no-go the regret spend is low.

Of course you could make Jane a Roadie and she could be responsible for setting up your gear and packing it away. Please advise when your telling her this wonderful news as I have access to strong prescription analgesics and will send you some.

That is a lot of bits, SWMBO appears to be very well adjusted She doesn't question my guitar stuff, I don't question her clothes habit I just hope that when I die she doesn't sell my stuff for what I told her I paid for it

Tim, if you may have a look in this Video at 4:20. https://youtu.be/KPnBofgSvLgI immediately had this idea and imagination in my head but I couldn't find a better example of visualization. What you see in the video is made for heavy loads. But the principle could be realized with small little rollers also for the effect board. The advantage is that it stands rock solid and as Colin said, the foot remains unstrained if the height of the board does not change.

Nice system Heinz, and a handy refresher for my extremely rusty German verbal comprehension. I'm starting to think it might be easiest just to do a bit of exercise and pick the thing up though, 7Kg is hardly a huge weight for a strapping young lad like me

Well, I can report back. I bought 4 40mm self-adhesive teflon sliders from a German outfit called FD-Workstuff, and they work brilliantly. The pedalboard slides around very easily, just as required.
So if any of you have a need to move stuff easily on carpets these are highly recommended. You can also get felt-faced jobs for hard floors too.
