Peter, they do look good especially now we can see a full view of Tarka. What profile tyre did you use with the smaller 18" wheel?
I have often wondered if a 40 profile tyre would work with the 19" Max wheel, to give a slightly better ride and more ground clearance. That's assuming there is enough clearance under the arches. Anyone on here tried this at all?

David,
Thanks, my wife hates them, I quite like them. The idea was to make the Plus 8 a real "all year round car", I love driving her, she is waterproof and warm and with SSL's suspension upgrade and 40 section tyres, comfortable and quiet! I used 40 profile tyres on the 19" wheels, this gives the same overall size as 19" and 35 profile, I'm told.
I don't think there would be enough clearance under the rear wheel arches with 40s on 19".
Why change the wheels? 19" M&S tyres are not easy to find, and more importantly I don't believe in changing tyres, rather wheels and tyres. Ihe 18s have far more options and I was able to buy them at a good price!

Well, the wheels are tyred and I put the first one on. ![[Linked Image]](https://www.tm-img.com/images/2020/11/26/Speedster-Plus-8.jpg) I need to settle the car on its suspension, and put the other 3 on: that will be tomorrow. The look is better than expected, the chunky tread edge on the Michelin Cross Climate tyres looks nicely "retro" and the wheel hides the very modern brakes. Thoughts, everyone! Oh sorry Peter ... i think that Tarka looks much better with her old boots :-0

That is a great colour, the wheels look ace too 👍🏻]

OK this has to be said Peter! I'm not a fan of black wheels anyway. I've had one set of black and for me they just didn't work. The Speedster wheels wouldn't be my choice, but I could live with them silver. In black they look too much like generic steel spare wheels. I'll get my coat.

That would probably be a cool rim of desire if not generic, Dave.

Dave,
they would have been rather cheaper!
The Black Speedster Wheels on Tarka seem to generate very much a "Marmite" response, with a small majority loving them. Caroline is firmly in the "hate them" camp... So it is clear they will be hiding for the summer!

I like the style of them and apologies if it came over sounding negative. It's just that I think I prefer them in Silver against Peters car. The colour and sheen in Tarka's paint is lovely and the dark finish takes away from it for my personal taste. It's all personal taste after all. I see the sense of having a spare pair of wheels and C/C tyres given you do use it all year around. It's also the fact that the AeroMax wheels are so darn pretty. It would not cost too much to get them refinished once winter is over
Everyone loves a Morgan. Even me, unless it's broken again.

I could do with four more speedster wheels and some of Peter's winter tyres as an easy changeover as the Yokohama advan tyres might be difficult to warm up now !
