Thanks Heinz,
Really informative. Hopefully, if there is likely to be an issue we will identify it on Monday and be able to make an adjustment to eliminate it.

Thanks for the inspiration I’m Joining the Toyo gang I have ordered some CF2’s (205 65 15 94V) for my SS from Demon Tweeks. They are on offer at the moment , so a bargain at just over £200 for 4. Looking forward to the improvement over the original 2011 Avon’s. I have had no problem with wheel damage, even whilst driving it pretty hard round Goodwood On the Brands Hatch Morgan track day.

Good to hear that your car is free of the issue... hopefully we’ll not find any problems on Monday!

Just reporting back... when fitted, the wheels protrude beyond the wheel arch and therefore won’t work without fitting new wings, which isn’t a viable option unless I win the lottery! I’ve spoken to Minilite and using the splined centres on narrower wheels isn’t possible so I’m now considering my options.
Whilst Cain was checking over the car he’s identified some areas where we can tweak the suspension and improve on the factory manufacturing tolerances. I’ve decided to get the fundamentals sorted first before investing more in shines bits!

Roger , nice to hear you still have your rather special plus 4 with the 2.5L engine , the colour was amazing the last time i saw it . Hope you get sorted with some grippy tyres. Have used toyos in the past and they are very good , so too are Yokohamas .

Hi Steve,
Good to hear from you too. How is life in Norfolk?
As the Minilites are a non-option I'll possibly stick with the wire wheels which are currently shod with Avon CR6zz's, which are very sticky and have a deep section sidewall which helped solve my earlier ground clearance issues (ripping off the exhaust exiting the ferry at Santander)!

Would be an Imagewheel in a Minilite look an option where you can chose a matching size? https://www.imagewheels.co.uk/rm1-minilite-alloy-wheel/

Heinz,
What a great idea! I wasn't aware of the company and their RM1 wheel looks to be a pretty close match. They are sending me some details now!
Thanks for the heads up!

Roger, and you can chose of a lot of varieties regarding the finishes and the colours plus different combinations. Imagewheels also made the rims for the 80th anniversary 4/4, so I think they are a serious company. I have no relationship to them but I was in contact in 2013 when the rims of my P4SS were grinding but then I sold the car. Plus I would not be surprised if you can gain less weight. My Minilite including centre lock of the P4SS weight 12 Kg without a tyre. The spoked wheel in comparison is about 8 Kg plus the nut.
