I thought it might just be UK terminology, but checked in an american online dictionary. For clarity, the meaning of my words is 'something horrbile built in a garden shed'.

Aesthetics are one thing and a matter of opinion but safety, reliability and manufacturing integrity would rank very highly with most.
I guess we know where that leaves Morgan....

I think if Morgan made the M3W for a few “selected” customers (like Liberty) then they’d probably be where the reliability of the new Liberty Ace is predicted to be right now. But manufacturing is littered with companies like Morgan that got caught out by the success of their order book and lost control of quality on a new product, it’s a textbook case.

Also it would be very interesting to see what would happen if the new Liberty Ace was launched at a Geneva motor show, I personally doubt it would have the traction that the M3W got for a number of reasons, brand strength being one of them.

In the article I found it of no surprise when Morgan were alleged to have dumped their planned testing programme driven by sales need and that’s the fault of the management / ownership, which of course has changed.

Right now if I was the new owner I’d be making sure my quality and customer support matched the price ticket since in the future non hydrocarbon world they won’t have the luxury of abusing the enthusiasts that come with a 135 years of combustion engines, that’s if they have any plans to stick around then of course.

Getting eyeballs all over it i can say that the building and the attention to detail if better than my M3W.

The ACE v1 reminds me of a Triking at the front, which according to this article, Liberty was looking into importing them so perhaps the Triking styling (front) was an influence in the ACE design.

Since Liberty sidecars are glass fibre, I can only imagine that the ACE uses it for their body compared to the M3W using aluminium. If that’s the case, then that’s the biggest strike against the ACE for me. Because the Harley is air cooled, the venting on the bonnet sides look fake, as if implying that there is a radiator behind the engine, the knob at the top front with a wing adds to that. Though I suspect that winged cap is functional (oil goes in) where the optional one on the M3W is just for looks. The one piece roll bar looks out of place too, compared to the twin hoop M3W.
Edit add: I also don't like seeing the modern rack and pinion steering with rubber boots and the light bar in front of the engine.

Overall to me, the ACE is a Triking with the rear sides shaved off and with a Harley engine up front instead of the MotoGuzzi. I cannot get over the glass-fibre (fiberglass) body work either when compared to the Morgan. I’m sure the engineering, materials, and construction are first class on the ACE v1.


The ACE v2, looks fun (on a track) and reliable with the full Goldwing drivetrain. As many here do, I prefere a V-Twin out front so the v2 doesn't do anything for me.

I'd agree with much of that - I wrtote the below earlier but didn't bother posting at the time. My criticisms are aesthetic, as I said in a previous post I cannot deny the obvious engineering talent of PL

Roll hoop jarrs and it puts too many similar but different curves in one area. Makes that part too busy. M3W solution is more elegant..
Aero Screens look like a kitcar add on. M3W solution is again more elegant
The diagonal prop shaft seat cut through looks like a poor afterthought.
Bonnet is too narrow at the front, leaving large slabby square panels.
The slabs drop at the front spoiling the 'side on' lines.
The front suspension mount and steering rack look like an afterthought and make the front look too busy"
