Nearly 30 years ago, I did a bulkhead swap on a SIII in 4 days (We got the Tuesday for Whitsun in those days). Not sure I could manage it so quickly now. Fortunately, a mate turned up at the crucial moment on the Sunday afternoon and helped with the lifting which meant that I was able to avoid scratching the paint on the new bulkhead.

after many years of my +8 scraping through the mot with the parking brake (discs on the rear) I am taking it all to bits and sorting the efficiency problem for good (I hope)

SNAP, I don't mind the moss but the lichen is a nightmare to remove. Started last winter but haven't had time nor the motivation to finish the job. A 50° roof pitch doesn't make it easy either 😠

Gordon, I too have some steep roofs, beginning to wish I had made the garage a flat roof instead of tiled. At least my tiles are flat, a mock slate appearance, but they seem to provide ideal conditions for moss to inhabit. I would not fancy removing the amount of moss that is on my roofs from tiles like yours...! A property maintenance chap I know suggested spraying the roof with Deosan Red Lable Hydrochlorite, but just looking at the data sheet scared me off, so back to the scraper and wire brush..

BMG, I am not so lucky, I had organised roofers to carry out my de-mossing task, but due to Covid restrictions the work was delayed, thus I decided to get on with it myself. The reason for removal was that I was frustrated with the down pipes continually being clogged with the moss, requiring regular clearing.

George, you maybe already know, but you get plastic inserts that fit the gutter outlet. These prevent downpipe and drain blocking. Still have to continually clean out the gutters though.

Gordon, thanks for the heads up but I suspect there is no way of beating nature. It was the regular gutter cleaning that started the process, just too old and getting older to be at the top of ladders for much longer, the tiles are circa ten years old thus it seemed that as it took circa ten years for the moss to get to this stage, if I clean it now while I can, then I suspect in ten years if I am still around I may no longer consider drainage a priority, house drainage that is..(-:

The roof rain water drainage is connected to old drain tiles underground in places, through which it heads of into the field, I have dug and cleared these in times past, not quite up to that again, I installed traps at the foot of all the downpipes and grates at the top all to reduce underground drain interventions when I built the new extensions and garage.... I just did not count on the increase in Moss growth that was never a problem when pre extensions, the old house had a slate roof..! Though I also note that there seems to be more moss than grass on the "lawn" these days too, well at least it is still green.. frown

Don`t much care to get involved in chemical warfare... frown

Unfortunately we have some large gum trees near the house and the gutters are constantly full of leaves, i have tried gutter guard but the leaves get stuck in it just as bad.

My roof is 22.5 degrees and looks flat compared to those photos. What do you do to clean those roofs as they certainly look too scary to climb onto?

ChrisC as you asked what do I use to clean the roofs.... In terms of tools I use two scrapers and a wire brush then a standard hand brush...It is a laborious task indeed. one scraper is just a standard wall paper scraper the other is one I made up to clear out the vertical groves between tiles, where the moss gets a grip then it builds up on the tails of the tiles in that they being concrete, is rough and thick giving the moss somewhere to root into...sigh! I use the scraper to clean the whole surface of the tile removing the bird poop that no doubt feeds the moss, scrape the moss of the tails and out of the grooves, then wire brush the tails to remove the roots finishing of with the normal brush....What fun..!

This time of year the roofs tend to be damp most days and not a place to be without a reasonable safe (ish) working plan. I have borrowed a wheeled zip-up type alloy scaffold to provide a platform at gutter height and from the platform I fix a long alloy ladder lying flat on the roof tiles from which I can work up to ridge height. For the sections between house and garage where the scaffold can not be used to fix the ladder to, I bought a kit of parts to convert the ladder with a hook arrangement that rises up over the ridge and rests on the tiles on the other side of the roof converting it to a roofers ridge ladder.

Seems I made a rod to whip my own back in that when I thought to extend the place, I built the garage to housing spec with attic trusses in the off chance it might be converted to whatever use in time, I used the same style attic trusses on the large extension to the house and raising the roof line, again to provide accommodation space should that ever be a plan, not that I would ever have any use for that amount of space, but hoping to add value should the place require or desire to be sold to pay for nursing home fees or suchlike... Sigh..!

End product is rather a lot of roof area... doh
